You've made it through the first two weeks!
I hope you've had a chance to settle in a bit and are feeling good about this semester. Now it’s time to make sure you are organized and are getting into a rhythm that works for you!
Staying on Top of Things
If you haven’t already done so, get in the habit of checking your Illinois State email and your Canvas page regularly! I also encourage you to complete the Student Technology QuickStart to become familiar with technology resources used on campus.
If you don't already have your textbooks, get them now! Milner Library has some helpful information regarding textbooks and course materials.
It’s time to add tutoring, workshops, and professors’ office hours to your arsenal of tools for success this term. Tutoring is an excellent way to give yourself a chance to talk over your course material with new people, to be sure you are solidifying that knowledge before exams!
And please, check in with yourself and those around you to be sure you are protecting your wellness! ISU has a lot of wellness resources for you, so be sure to take advantage and ask for help when you need it. No one does college alone.
Coming Up in Advising – Planning Appointments
Believe it or not, it’s time for spring semester planning! Registration comes around sooner than you think, and if you are in your first year, an advising appointment is MANDATORY before you can enroll in classes.
Please take a look at your major’s catalog page and your Gen Ed requirements and pick out 5-8 classes that make sense for you to take this spring. Then, reserve an appointment with me to go over your choices and any other questions you have as you prepare for registration.
You can reserve an appointment any time that works for you, but please be aware that as we approach registration, I expect appointments will eventually book up. So please plan to come in as soon as you are ready; don’t wait.
